Yankees Make MLB History with 9 Home Runs vs Rays | Judge Hits 40th

Yankees Crush Rays with Record-Tying 9 Home Runs; Stanton, Bellinger Lead Historic Night

Giancarlo Stanton and Cody Bellinger celebrate after Yankees hit record 9 home runs vs Tampa Bay Rays

TAMPA, Fla. — The New York Yankees made history Tuesday night, blasting nine home runs in a 13-3 rout of the Tampa Bay Rays, tying a franchise record and becoming the first MLB team ever to hit nine homers in multiple games in a single season.

Giancarlo Stanton and Cody Bellinger each launched two homers, while Aaron Judge crushed his 40th of the season as the Yankees powered their way to a fourth straight victory. The night started with fireworks as Judge, Bellinger, and Stanton went back-to-back-to-back in the first inning, giving New York an immediate 3-0 lead after a rain delay.

Jose Caballero also recorded his first career multi-homer game, while Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Ben Rice added long balls of their own. The Yankees matched a feat only three other teams in MLB history have achieved — nine or more home runs in a single game. The all-time record remains 10 homers, set by the Toronto Blue Jays in 1987.

“It was incredible across the board,” Stanton said on the YES Network postgame show. “We were locked in from the start and stayed aggressive.”

According to ESPN Research, Stanton, Bellinger, and Caballero became just the second trio in Yankees history to each hit multiple homers in the same game, joining legends Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, and Bill Skowron from 1961.

Manager Aaron Boone praised the offensive explosion: “To do it twice in one season is remarkable. Just a really impressive showing against a tough opponent.”

Bellinger finished 4-for-5 with three RBIs, helping the Yankees maintain a narrow lead in the American League wild-card race over the Mariners and Red Sox. Starter Carlos Rodón (13-7) earned the win with six solid innings, while Rays pitcher Shane Baz (8-10) was tagged for five homers in just three innings, continuing his struggles with a 9.32 ERA over his last six starts.

The Yankees previously hit nine home runs on March 29 in a 20-9 win against the Milwaukee Brewers, and now stand alone as the only MLB team with multiple nine-homer games in one season.

Meanwhile, MLB also announced that Seattle Mariners outfielder Victor Robles has been suspended 10 games for throwing a bat toward a pitcher during a rehab assignment in Triple-A. Robles, recovering from a shoulder injury, is appealing the decision.

With Tuesday’s performance, the Yankees reinforced their reputation as one of the league’s most dangerous lineups — and showed they can rewrite history while keeping their playoff push alive.
