Savannah Guthrie, Nancy Guthrie missing, Pima County search

The mother of “Today Show” co-anchor Savannah Guthrie has been reported missing in Arizona, prompting a large-scale search by local authorities.

According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie was last seen at her home in the Catalina Foothills area near Tucson on the evening of Saturday, January 31. A family member contacted emergency services around noon on Sunday, February 1, after discovering she was not at home.

Search and Investigation Details

Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that search and rescue teams are actively working to locate Nancy Guthrie. The effort includes both ground and air units, and authorities have used drones, helicopters, and search teams to comb the surrounding area.

Officials described some “concerning circumstances” found at her home, which led to homicide detectives joining the investigation, although foul play has not yet been confirmed. The case is still being handled primarily as a search and rescue mission.

Who is Nancy Guthrie?

Nancy Guthrie is 84 years old and has been classified by police as a vulnerable adult due to her age and physical condition. However, authorities have stated she is not known to have cognitive issues such as dementia even though she is reported to be in poor physical health.

According to descriptions from the Sheriff’s Office, she is approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs around 150 pounds, and has brown hair and blue eyes. It is not yet known what she was wearing when last seen.

Family Response and Appeal

The Guthrie family released a statement saying they are working closely with law enforcement and appreciate the support and outreach from the public. Authorities have urged anyone with information about Nancy’s whereabouts to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

Savannah Guthrie, who recently returned to the Today Show after vocal cord surgery, has not publicly commented on her mother’s disappearance at this time.
